U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is imposing new restrictions on the Pentagon Press Corps, announcing Friday that reporters will now be required to sign a pledge agreeing not to gather or publish any information that has not been formally cleared for release, or risk losing their Pentagon press credentials. In a 17-page memo released Thursday, the Department of Defense said it “remains committed to transparency to promote accountability and public trust,” but stressed that “all information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before dissemination, even if it is unclassified.”
