The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), established in 1967 to support public broadcasting throughout the United States, has announced plans to begin winding down its operations ahead of a complete shutdown in January 2026. The CPB, which funds and oversees more than a thousand radio and television stations, including NPR and PBS, is closing following a congressional decision last month to slash its federal funding by nearly $1.1 billion.
