According to Axios, citing sources familiar with the matter, the Pentagon has floated the possibility of seizing Iran-controlled Abu Musa.

The island is located in the eastern Persian Gulf near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, approximately 40 miles from both Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
