Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a grave warning today amid the worsening water crisis in the nation’s capital, saying the government may be forced to order a full evacuation of Tehran if conditions do not improve by December.
The Karaj Dam — which has a maximum capacity of 180 million cubic feet and supplies drinking water to Tehran and a neighboring province — is reportedly down to just 7% of its capacity. According to Mehdi Maghsoudi, Director of Karaj Water Affairs, the city’s supply of clean water could be exhausted within two weeks.
