On Thursday, the White House sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Pro Tempore Chuck Grassley, asserting that the president acted within his constitutional authority as Commander-in-Chief in ordering this week’s strike on a narco-terrorist vessel off Venezuela’s coast. The letter emphasized the mission’s open-ended nature, stating:
“It is not possible at this time to determine the full scope or duration of the military operations that may be required. U.S. Forces remain positioned to conduct additional operations in and around Venezuela.”
