Lawmakers in Jordan voted unanimously to remove the word Israel from official parliamentary transcripts after a motion introduced by MP Hayel Ayash, who argued the country should not be referenced in legislative records because it is viewed as an enemy by Jordanians.
The measure passed without opposition during the session and was welcomed by Saleh Al-Armouti, head of the Islamic Action Front — the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood — who said the decision restores dignity and honor to the parliament.
